This novel is written by famous writer Virginia Woolf and published in the year of 1925. Mrs. Dalloway is the best known work of this author, this novel speaks about the effects of world war I in the human mentality and also has the theme of feminism. The unique characteristic of this work is the whole plot is the happenings of a single day, mid June of 1923.

Plot Summary:
Clarissa Dalloway is a 51 year old woman, the protagonist of the novel is arranging for the evening party, she goes out for purchasing flowers for the party, there she meet her old lover Peter Walsh and they share their thoughts about the present life but deep inside they are recalling the old memories when Clarissa was 17 and she decides to leave Peter and marry Richard Dalloway. Regardless of these feeling Clarissa invites Peter for the evening party.
After these happenings Peter goes to a park to spend his time till evening, there he saw a man named Septimus, an old army man of world war I and his wife. The man who still mourns for his friend's death in the war, the cruelty of the war kills the happiness of Septimus and gave him a mental illness. His doctor Sir William Bradshaw suggests to take him to asylum for few months till he recovers.
Mrs. Dalloway has a nostalgic feeling as she invites her old friend Sally, once they shared a passionate kiss with each others, this part revels the homosexuality factor of this novel. Elizabeth is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Dalloway, who is very interested in politics and modern history and she loves to spend time with her father than her mom. In the busy world Richard Dalloway who forgets to say I love you to his wife for very long time.
Sir William Bradshaw, the doctor is getting ready for the evening party stuck when his patient, Septimus commits suicide by jumping through the window, Bradshaw arrived to the party late and apologies for his delay and says the reason behind it. Finally Clarissa realize the failure of her party and also her personal life in the fast going world of wars.
