D.H. Lawrence's "WOMEN IN LOVE"

This novel is written in the 1920 by the well-known writer Mr. D.H. Lawrence later this novel has been adapted as a film in 1930. And it is a continued story of the early novel "The Rainbow" by the same author. Even though the book was written during the happenings of world war, Lawrence didn't mention those conflicts explicitly but the characters and their activities are merely based on that contemporary situation.

Summary:

The two sisters, Ursula and Gudrun lives in Midland of England in the year of 1910. Ursula is working as a teacher and Gudrun as an artist. One day they meet two men Gerald Crich, Rupert Birkin. Gerald Crich is a coal mine heir, a person royal family; Birkin is a school inspector. Gradually the four become fine friends and at last Ursula & Birkin; Gudrun & Gerald falls in love with each other.

During their courtship, they are being questioned by the society about their relationship. Gerald took the other three to a party in his home, there Gerald's sister drowns and Gudrun helped her. So the family too get closer with her. Suddenly Gerald's father died due to illness, at that time both of them Gudrun and Gerald sleep together in their home without anyone's attention later their relationship becomes stromy. But the story of Ursula & Birkin is typical, they have good understanding and both are willing to get married with their whole heart.

Gudrun spend her holiday in Alps with another woman named Loerke, Gerald gets anger about their unusual relationship and decided to kill both of them but suddenly he has a thought that the death is not all he wants, but only love. Devastated Gerald climbed a mountain and falls asleep there and freezes to death. After his loss Birkin spokes to Ursula that he wants her throughout his life and he loves her as the way Gerald loved Gudrun so the couple Ursula & Birkin marries and lived a happy life.
