CHITRA BANERJEE DIVAKARUNI

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is a contemporary Indian- American poet, author and teacher who was born in Kolkata in 1956 and migrated to US in 1976. Her works are mostly situated and based in India and America, she got American Book award for her work 'Arranged Marriage' and many major awards. Her works have some typical and unique style which gives you a deep feeling and thoughts about your origin and society, her works are been published in more than 50 magazines. Majorly her works speak about contemporary India and America, history, myth and challenges in leading life as a multicultural individual. She writes in most of the genres like children literature, fantasy, realistic, historical fictions and so on.

And her works are widely reflects the complexity and reality of women in the current and past society, Sister of My Heart and Oleander girl are the finest works among them.
